Notes:
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has cut India’s growth forecast for 2022-23 (FY23) to 7.4 per cent, citing less favourable external conditions and fast policy tightening by RBI.
In its update to the April World Economic Outlook, the IMF said that global recession in 2022 was ruled out with a growth estimate of 3.2 per cent. Asian Development Bank recently slashed its growth projection for India to 7.2 per cent for FY23, from 7.5 per cent.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson presented Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the Sir Winston Churchill Leadership Award.
Zelenskyy accepted the award by video link during a ceremony at the London office. Boris Johnson was the first Western leader to visit Ukraine after Russia’s invasion. The Churchill leadership award was first presented in the year 2006.

Russia has decided to quit the International Space Station after 2024, as per the newly-appointed chief of Moscow’s space agency.
Russia and the United States have worked on the ISS, which has been in orbit since the year 1998. Some of the key accomplishments of the Soviet space programme are sending the first man into space in 1961 and launching the first satellite four years earlier.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Board approved Bangladesh, India, England and Sri Lanka as the four host countries of the ICC women’s cricket events.
While the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be hosted by Bangladesh for the second time, the 2026 edition goes to England. The next ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2025 will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka will host the Women’s T20 Champions Trophy 2027.

Notes:
According to data presented by Union Minister of State for Environment in the Lok Sabha, India lost 329 tigers in the last three years due to poaching, natural and unnatural causes.
It also added that 125 people have been killed in tiger attacks in this period. Around 307 elephants have died in this period due to poaching, electrocution, poisoning and train accidents. Out of them, 222 elephants died due to electrocution in the last three years.
