36th National Games of India 2022: When and Where will it be held?

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat Olympic Association (GOA) and Gujarat State Government to jointly conduct the 36th National Games 2022 on July 22.

Important facts:

  • The 36th National Game 2022 will be held in Gujarat.
  • It is scheduled to be held from September 27, 2022 to October 10, 2022.
  • It will be held across 6 cities of Gujarat, in which all the 28 states and 8 Union Territories will participate.
  • In all, 36 sports will be hosted, in line with the tagline “Sports for Unity”.
  • This year, Yogasana and Mallakhamba have been added to the list of games. Thus, it will promote indigenous sports in India.
  • Inaugural function will be held at the Narendra Modi stadium.

Venue for the National Games:

The National Games 2022 will be held across 6 cities in Gujarat, viz., Gandhinagar, Surat, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara, and Bhavnagar.

Logo of the National Games:

On the occasion of signing of the MoU, a logo for the 36th National Game 2022 was also launched. The logo depicts Gujarat’s two enduring and proud symbols viz., Statue of Unity of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Gir Asiatic Lion.

Last Edition of the National Games:

Last edition of the National Games was organised in 2015, in Kerala. 2022 edition of the National Games will be held after a gap of seven years.
