Mount Nyiragongo

Mount Nyiragongo is an active stratovolcano located inside the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The African country witnessed volcanic eruption from this mountain for the first time since 2002. The previous eruption led to 250 deaths and 120,000 people displaced. It is one of the most dangerous active volcanoes in the world. Nyiragongo and Nyamuragira in Virunga mountains account for 40% of Africa’s past volcanic eruptions.
