LHAASO

The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) is a gamma-ray and cosmic-ray observatory in Sichuan Province of China. Set at an altitude of 4,410 metres above the sea level, it consists of a cluster of detectors spanning more than 1 square kilometre on Haizi mountain. It has been operational since 2019. This observatory’s astronomers have recently identified the brightest light particle, gamma ray photons up to 1.4 PeV emitted by the Milky Way galaxy.
