Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), to up-skill the technical staff.
More than 4000 ISRO technical employees will be trained in the programme over the course of the next 5 years. It aims to create a formal framework for short-term courses for capacity- building of the technical staff of ISRO as per the industry requirements.

Notes:
The United States, all European Union member states, and 32 non-EU countries recently announced a “Declaration for the Future of the Internet”.
The Document is an agreement to prevent digital authoritarianism. It highlights goals like affordability, net neutrality, and removing illegal content without curtailing free expression. India, Russia and China are big countries which are not part of the declaration.

‘Lingua Franca’ is a language that is adopted as a common language between speakers whose native languages are different.
Recently CBSE announced to Kokborok in its curriculum. A confederation of 56 tribal organisations in the state hailed CBSE’s decisions while they called for Roman Script for Kokborok Choba. This is in the backdrop of Union Home Minister’s statements that ‘Hindi would be made compulsory for all Northeast states and Devanagari script will be introduced for all languages without a script.’

The ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY)’ scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1st May 2016 at Ballia, Uttar Pradesh.
It was a major step towards social inclusion by providing Free LPG connection to every BPL household. To celebrate the achievements of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) decided to celebrate 1st May 2022 as Ujjwala Diwas. Oil marketing companies will organise more than 5000 LPG panchayats on the occasion of Ujjwala diwas.

Sai Divya, research scholar in Satellite Communications from Andhra Pradesh has developed CubeSat LakshyaSAT, a research nano-satellite.
After she sent the prototype of the Cubesat to the UK, B2Space Company launched the satellite. The CubeSat model, placed inside a space box platform, was sent to the stratosphere to collect various parameters of the stratosphere using a high altitude balloon.

Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) hosted the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI), in New Delhi, in both offline and online modes.
It is being hosted in collaboration with the United States government. The conference was attended by the Prime Ministers of India, Australia and Japan, as well as Presidents of Ghana and Madagascar. India launched the initiative on ‘Infrastructure for Resilient Island States’ at COP26 2021

World Health Organization (WHO) marks May 5 every year as ‘World Hand Hygiene Day’, to encourage people to clean hands at the right times with the right products.
This year, the Campaign theme is “A health care “quality and safety climate or culture” that values hand hygiene and infection prevention and control” and the Slogan is “Unite for safety: clean your hands”.

The UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) has said that it is in discussions with India on procurement of wheat, as countries face food security challenges amid the Russia-Ukraine war.
World Food Program, IMF, World Bank recently encouraged governments not to put export bans on staple food grains. India has committed to supplying 50,000 tonnes of wheat grain to Afghanistan, which it has already started.

Under ‘Mukhyamantri Muft Sewer Connection Yojna’, the New Delhi Government will provide 25,000 households of east Delhi with 100 per cent sewer connectivity for free.
The Government has developed out a plan to maximise the potential of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) through the development of free sewer connections, new sewer lines and reverse osmosis (RO) plants in the state.

World Athletics Day was introduced by International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) to promote participation in athletics among youngsters. World Athletics Day was first celebrated in 1996.
IAAF is the international governing body for field athletics and track founded in 1912 in Stockholm (Sweden). Every year on the 7th of May, World Athletics Day is commemorated across the world.
