The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched the “National Urban Digital Mission”. The aim of the mission is to create a shared digital infrastructure for cities.
The mission would create a citizen centric approach to urban governance and service delivery in cities by 2022, and across all towns by 2024.

Vijay Sampla, former Union Minster recently took charge as the chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), after being appointed by the President of India.
He served as the Union Minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment from 2014 to 2019. Ram Shankar Katheria was earlier the head of NCSC.

Madhya Pradesh approved a law to give life imprisonment to food adulterators, with the cabinet recently approving a Penal Law (Madhya Pradesh Amendment) Bill, 2021.
In 2019, a massive rally was organised in the state against food adulteration, with the participation of several citizens of all age groups.

Recently, Wayanad of Kerala has witnessed infestation of fall armyworm (FAW), which has caused excessive damage to crops in the place.
The attack has been reported on maize and plantain cultivations and hence the state’s agriculture department has issued advisory to farmers.

American Aerospace company Boeing has developed a pilotless, fighter-like jet prototype in Australia called the ‘Loyal Wingman”. The aircraft made its first flight recently.
This model is to be used as the basis for its U.S. Air Force Skyborg prototype. It is also the first military aircraft to be designed and manufactured in Australia in more than 50 years.

According to the 10th Edition of Hurun Global Rich List 2021, China leads with the highest number of billionaires at 1058 followed by the U.S and India.
The index also highlighted that the world added 8 billionaires a week in 2020. The total wealth of all billionaires across the globe rose 32 per cent during the review period.

Physarum polycephalum is a single-cell slime mold. It was recently found to be capable of saving memories despite the absence of nervous system.
This finding deviates from the traditional assumption that memories are held by only by those organisms with a nervous system.

India’s largest ground-based optical telescope, has been installed in Devasthal in Uttarakhand. The telescope is the product of an Indo-Belgian collaborative effort, assisted by the Russian Academy of Sciences, that was kicked off in 2007.
It is going to be operated by the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), an autonomous research body under the Department of Science and Technology.

The Jharkhand state government for the first time presented an outcome-based budget. Under the mechanism, 11 departments have been given targets and responsibilities, the results of which will be measured by the end of next financial year.
The departments have submitted a detailed document on the work they are planning to do in the next fiscal.

Wipro has announced that it has joined the ‘Partnering for Racial Justice in Business initiative’ launched by the World Economic Forum.
The initiative aims to impart necessary policy changes for inclusion and development of professionals with under-represented racial and ethnic identities.
