Notes:
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K Palaniswami has recently inaugurated the Advanced Institute of Integrated Research in Livestock and Animal Science (AIIRLAS) in the state.
It is located in Thalaivasal of Salem district. It is considered to be the largest such institution in Asia and has been constructed at a cost of Rs.1,023 crore.

The Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) is an international agreement between all the member countries of the World Trade Organization (WTO)
India as well as South Africa have proposed the WTO to consider the TRIPS waiver on COVID-19 vaccines. If India succeeds in getting the waiver, it will reduce the cost of vaccines significantly and facilitate free flow of medicines and easy technology transfer across the world.

Notes:
The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has finalised the list of products to be covered under One District One Focus Product (ODOFP).
This list has been prepared in consultation with the Union Ministry of Food Processing and Industries for 728 districts across the country. The identified products belong to agricultural, horticultural, animal, poultry, milk, fisheries and aquaculture, marine sectors.

The virtual meet of the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors was organised recently under the chairmanship of Italy. India was represented by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The meeting was aimed to discuss policy actions for economic recovery. Discussion on impact of climate change on financial stability was also made in the meeting.

National Science Day is being observed in India every year on 28th of February to commemorate the discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’.
On the same day, CV Raman announced the discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ and he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930. The theme for National Science Day 2021 is ‘Future of Science and Technology and Innovation: Impact on Education Skills and Work.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has extended the re-appointment of Pramod Chandra Mody as Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
PC Mody, a 1982-batch Indian Revenue Service officer, was appointed as the CBDT Chairman in February 2019. His tenure was extended in August last year for six months.

The leading computer manufacturer HP, has made its first ever personal computer using plastic found in oceans.
The company’s Pavilion 13, Pavilion 14, and Pavilion 15 series of laptops have been manufactured using ocean plastic wastes materials. The company estimates that nearly 92,000 plastic bottles are pulled out of the oceans to manufacture these computers

The Land Ports Authority of India was founded in 2012. It is a statutory body working under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
It is responsible for creating, upgrading, maintaining and managing border infrastructure in India. It manages several Integrated Check Posts all across Borders of India. The 9th foundation say of the Land Ports Authority of India was observed on March 1, 2021.

ARMEX-21 is a major skiing expedition launched by the Indian Army from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand, covering around 1,500 km distance. This comes to close proximity with the LAC in Ladakh, Himachal, Garhwal and Kumaon sectors. The expedition comes amid border tensions between India and China.

According to the 10th Edition of Hurun Global Rich List 2021, China leads with the highest number of billionaires at 1058 followed by the U.S and India.
The index also highlighted that the world added 8 billionaires a week in 2020. The total wealth of all billionaires across the globe rose 32 per cent during the review period.
