Notes: Chuar Revolt of 1799: When the British East India Company imposed huge tax burden on zamindars, farmers, peasants, then  the Chuar tribals under the leadership of Durjan Singh ( a former zamindar of Midnapur) revolted against the British. But the  revolt was ruthlessly suppressed by the British.
