Amarkantak in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh is the place where the Narmada River, the Son River and Johila River emerge. The source of the Narmada is a small reservoir, known as the Narmada Kund on the Amarkantak plateau. The Sone originates just east of the headwater of the Narmada River, and flows north-northwest through Madhya Pradesh state.
