Kaiser – i – Hind is a rare species of swallowtail butterfly. It is found in North India, Nepal and North of Vietnam. Kaiser – I – Hind means Emperor of India.

In November 2021, the Kaiser – I – Hind was declared as the state butterfly of Arunachal Pradesh. The decision was approved by the cabinet meeting held in Pakke Tiger Reserve. This was the first time the cabinet meeting was held outside. Kaiser – I – Hind was declared as the state butterfly to boost butterfly tourism in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

What is the habitat of Kaiser – I – Hind?

The butterfly lives in high altitudes. They are found at a height of 6,000 feet to 10,000 feet. It usually flies in the tree tops. They descend to low vegetation only during strong morning sunlight. The butterflies are in flight only during April to July. They lay eggs on the underside of leaves.
