Tourist at Phuket beach could be sentenced to death if they take photos
People could risk imprisonment or even death if they take runway selfies at Phuket beach. The popular Mai Khao beach, nicknamed ‘the selfie runway’ is next to Phuket International Airport, where the planes fly low over the sand as they come into land. The beach has become popular with thrill-seekers trying to snap the perfect shot and posing with the aircraft as they approach. Airport bosses fear tourists snapping away could distract pilots and cause crashes. Authorities have claimed the constant photo-taking distracts pilots and visitors have been banned from the area.
