DMD causes muscle weakness and wasting, eventually affecting breathing and heart function. The 2025 theme is “Family: the heart of care.”The 2025 theme is “Family: the heart of care,” highlighting family’s role in supporting people with Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy (DMD/BMD). Becker Muscular Dystrophy (BMD) is a milder form of DMD. WDAD 2025 will feature a global documentary showing families’ resilience and caregiving journeys. The day promotes awareness, education, advocacy, and inclusion for people living with dystrophinopathies.
