Notes: Shishunala Sharif was a saint poet who was born in 1819 in Shishuvinahala, Karnataka. He was the son of Imam Saheb, a disciple of Hajaresha Qadri, who wanted to unite Hinduism and Islam.  Sharif wrote moral poems that aimed to bring about social reform. A collection of his poems was set to music by C. Ashwath, who also sang most of the songs. The soundtrack was very popular when it was released.  A 1990 Kannada movie, Santha Shishunala Sharifa, was based on Sharif's life.
