Notes: Sakharam Ganesh Devaskar (1869–1912). He was a close associate of Sri Aurobindo. He attended Deoghar School and later became a teacher there. He published the book 'Desher Katha' and described in detail the British commercial and industrial exploitation of India. Desher storybook. The book was first published in June 1904 and sold ten thousand copies in four volumes during the year. Had a profound effect on the youth in the Swadeshi movement. It informed the people about Swadeshi street plays and folk songs and got the status of a must-read for the entire generation of Swadeshi activists. The fifth edition came out in 1905. However, the Bengal government banned the book in 1910 and confiscated all copies.
