Punji Khatun (the Grandmother of Mallu Adil Shah) and General Asad Khan deposed Mallu Adil Shah and declared Ibrahim Adil Shah I as the King. Ibrahim Adil Shah I was the brother of Mallu Adil Shah. He followed Shia Islam.
