Theodore Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt, who served as the 26th president of the United States from 1901 to 1909, was the first American to win a Nobel Prize in any category. He received the 1906 Nobel Peace Prize for having negotiated peace in the Russo-Japanese war in 1904-5. He also resolved a dispute with Mexico by resorting to arbitration as recommended by the peace movement.
