Mahadev Haribhai Desai
It was Mahadev Haribhai Desai, Mahatma Gandhi’s devoted secretary, who was imprisoned during the Quit India Movement and died in custody. Mahadev Desai was arrested on September 9, 1942, shortly after the launch of the Quit India Movement on August 8, 1942. He remained interned at the Aga Khan Palace in Poona, where he tragically succumbed to a heart attack on August 15, 1942, while still under confinement.
