Notes: Ashok Kumar was called “Dadamoni”. He was born on 13 October 1911. He was born to a Bengali family in Bhagalpur, then in the Bengal Presidency of British India and now in the Bihar. He was an Indian film actor who attained iconic status in Indian cinema. He was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1988. He also received the Padma Bhushan in 1999 for his contributions to Indian cinema. He is considered to be one of India’s finest actors ever, playing leading, negative and character roles with equal panache.
