Notes: Thomas Munro (Governor of Madras) introduced the Ryotwari system in the year 1820. It was started in southern India (Except some areas of Madras Presidency) and South Western India. The revenue had to be paid by the tenants directly to the government. The rate of revenue was very high and used to change after 30 years.
