Q. Who led the 1857 revolt in Palamu?
Answer: Nilambar–Pitambar
Notes: Nilambar and Pitambar were chiefs of the Bhogta clan of the Kharwar tribe. They organized a 500-strong force on 21 October 1857. The revolt targeted British Officer Lt. Graham and involved Chero jagirdars. British forces under Major Cotter and Colonel Dalton subdued the uprising by February 1858. Ganpat Rai led the revolt in Lohardaga, not Palamu. Palamu Fort was captured by British forces during this period.
