Notes: Dr. Zakir Hussain was the India’s first Muslim president, who occupied the office for the shortest period. His untimely death two years after being elected made V.V. Giri the first acting President of India. He breathed his last on May 3, 1969 thus becoming the first Indian President to die in office.
