He is considered as the greatest Indian poet prior to Kalidasa and probably the first Sanskrit dramatist. Ashbvaghosha's literature works were in Classical Sanskrit language. Kanishka was an emperor of the Kushan dynasty in the second century. He was famous for his Military, Political and Spiritual achievements. He came to rule an empire in Gandhara which extended to Pataliputra on the Gangetic plain.
