The Safa-Hor Movement, also called the Kherwar Movement, started in 1868 among the Santhal tribe in the Chota Nagpur region. It was led by Bhagirath Manjhi and focused on socio-religious reforms, promoting monotheism and purification. The movement emphasized worship of one supreme deity and aimed to establish Santhal Raj while ending sacrifices to evil spirits. It spread chiefly among Santhals of Santhal Parganas.
