Notes: Mount Pelee is a 1397 maters high active stratovolcano, which forms part of the Lesser Antilles Volcanic Arc, located in the Martinique Island, one of the overseas territories of France. The volcanic cone of Mount Pelee is composed of stratified layers of hardened ash and solidified lava. The 1902 eruption of Mount Pelee destroyed the entire town of Saint-Pierre and killed the entire population except for the survival of only two persons. It is one of the worst volcanic disasters of the 20th century.
