The Government of Delhi has launched the ANMOL (Advanced Newborn Monitoring for Optimal Lifecare) scheme, which provides free large-scale genetic screening for all newborns in the city. Under this programme, all newborns in both government and private hospitals in Delhi will be screened free of cost for 56 genetic and metabolic disorders, ensuring universal coverage. The primary objective of the scheme is to identify inherited diseases at an early stage, even before symptoms appear, so that timely treatment can prevent disability or death.
