The Andhra Pradesh government led by N. Chandrababu Naidu is launching a Mushroom Mission with an estimated investment of ₹13,000 crore. The mission aims to make Andhra Pradesh the largest mushroom producer in India, targeting 67,500 tonnes annually. It seeks to surpass Bihar, which currently produces about 45,000 tonnes. The initiative will promote small and medium units (around 5,000 sq ft) to boost rural employment and entrepreneurship. The mission also aims to enhance exports, especially to Gulf countries, and build a strong agri-value chain.
