Himachal state government launched the 'Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana' from Hamirpur to boost environmental conservation and public participation in forest management. It aims to increase green cover by planting fruit-bearing trees on barren forest lands and create jobs for local people. The 'Green Adoption Scheme' was also launched, where companies like Ambuja, Adani Foundation, and Ultra-Tech will undertake plantations under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). 'Van Mitras' were appointed to support forest protection and raise awareness, with many women among the recruits.
