The Punjab Cabinet has approved a women-centric scheme named Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana (MMMDSY) to provide direct financial support to women. The scheme has a budget allocation of ₹9,300 crore for FY 2026–27, reflecting a major welfare initiative by the state. It is a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme, ensuring funds are directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts. It is expected to cover around 97% of adult women, including those aged 18 years and above and registered as voters in Punjab.
