Hydra is the largest of the 88 modern constellations, measuring 1303 square degrees, and also the longest at over 100 degrees. It is a long, slender, winding region of stars named after the many-headed sea serpent Hercules encountered in Greek mythology. Its southern end abuts Libra and Centaurus and its northern end borders Cancer. It is located in the southern hemisphere.
