The Chinook winds are known as snow eater. Along the eastern slopes of the Rockies, they are warm, dry winds that provide a welcome respite from the long winter chill. The hot winds melt and dry the winter snow making grazing possible throughout the winter. Chinook is associated with warm weather; it does not lead to rainfall in the Prairies.
