Calorific value of a fuel may be defined as the amount of heat produced on complete burning of 1 gm of fuel. The calorific value of Kerosene oil is 48KJ/g. The calorific value of diesel fuel is roughly 45.5 MJ/kg (mega joules per kilogram), slightly lower than petrol which is 45.8 MJ/kg.
