Kajri is a popular folk of UP and Bihar. It is derived from the Awadh word kajra, or kohl, a style of semi-classical singing originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is sung especially during the rainy season. It comes in a series of seasonal songs such as Chaiti, Hori and Sawani, and is traditionally sung in villages and towns of Uttar Pradesh: around Mirzapur, Mathura, Allahabad, Hardoi, Varanasi.
