Santhali is the only local language of Jharkhand included in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. It was added via the 92nd Amendment Act of 2003, effective from 2004. The Eighth Schedule lists 22 official languages. Other Jharkhand tribal languages like Mundari, Malto, and Kudukh (Kurukh) are not included in this schedule.
