Pride of India (Lagerstroemia speciosa)
Pride of India (Lagerstroemia speciosa), locally called ‘Tāmhan’, is Maharashtra’s state flower. Its pink-purple blooms appear from April to June. The tree is linked with prosperity and Lord Brahma in Hindu mythology. ‘Jarul’ is a common alternative name in Maharashtra for this species.
