Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment
Recently, the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) announced major reforms to enhance transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity in the national rehabilitation system. The RCI is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament. It was initially formed as a registered society in 1986 and became a statutory body on 22 June 1993 after the RCI Act, 1992. Its main mandate is to regulate and monitor rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment serves as its nodal ministry.
