Saranda reserved forest is in West Singhbhum, Jharkhand, spanning about 816-820 sq km. It is Asia's largest Sal (Shorea robusta) forest. Saranda was declared a game sanctuary in 1968 under the Bihar Forest Act and is now managed by Jharkhand's Forest Department. It covers approximately 82,000 hectares and includes significant iron ore reserves. The forest also serves as an elephant corridor. Other forests like Chutu Pali Valley, Naithaandham, and Anjandham are smaller and less documented in size.
