With a height of 260.5 metres, the Tehri dam is the highest dam in India and the world. It is a multipurpose rock and earth-fill embankment dam on the Bhagirathi River near Tehri in Uttarakhand. Its length is 575 m, crest width 20 m and base width 1,128 m.
