The state of Equatorial Guinea is situated on Central Africa's western coastline. Only two countries, Cameroon and Gabon, have land borders with Equatorial Guinea. The Gulf of Guinea forms the western coastline. This country is divided into two main regions: the Insular region, which includes the islands of Bioko and Annobon in the Bight of Biafra, and the mainland region, known as Rio Muni. The Gulf of Guinea also contains three offshore islands of the Rio Muni region. The national currency is the Central African CFA Franc, and the official languages are Spanish, French, and Portuguese, making it the only African nation where Spanish is official.
