International Cricket Council (ICC) launched a new eight-team global event called the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy after the success of the Women’s World Cup in India. The inaugural edition will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 20–30 November as part of a new three-tier development pathway to boost women’s cricket. The competing teams are Thailand, Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, UAE, Scotland, Namibia, Tanzania, and Uganda. The recent Women’s ODI World Cup saw India win its maiden title, drawing 500 million viewers and record stadium attendance.
