Surda copper mine in Singhbhum is operational under Hindustan Copper Limited's Indian Copper Complex at Ghatsila. It has ore reserves of 26 million tonnes with 1.2% copper grade. Other mines like Rakha and Kendadih were closed in 2001 but are being revived. Singhbhum's known copper deposits include Chapri, Rakha, Surda, Kendadih, Pathargora, and Dhobani.
