Answer: 1959
Notes: Terrestrial television was launched in India on 15 September 1959 with experimental broadcasts in Delhi with a small transmitter and a makeshift studio. The daily broadcast started in 1965 as part of All India Radio (AIR). Television service was later extended to Bombay (now Mumbai) and Amritsar in 1972.
