Notes: During the reign of Ahmad Shah I the Bahmani forces were defeated on three successive occasions by the Gujarati army. The minister Mahud Gawan, who was pardesi, attributed this humiliation to the cowardice. The sultan then raised the Deccanis to power. In the reign of Alauddin Ahmad Shah II they massacred many Pardesis at Chakan (1446) with the Sultan’s permission for a military reverse.
