The Dhal Revolt was the first tribal rebellion in Jharkhand against the British. It was led by the deposed king Jagannath Dhal of Dhalbhum from 1767 to 1777. The revolt aimed to stop the British East India Company's expansion into Singhbhum and Manbhum regions. It resulted in the British reinstating Jagannath Dhal as ruler. Other tribal revolts like Chero, Bhumij, and Kharwar occurred later and did not predate the Dhal Revolt.
