Notes: As per a recent study conducted by the Bengaluru-based Institute of Wood Science & Technology (IWST), the Sandalwood Spike Disease (SSD) has returned.
The sandalwood trees of the country, especially of Karnataka, are heavily infected with SSD and facing a great threat. At present, there is no option but to cut down and remove the infected tree, to prevent the spread of the disease.
