Oraon comb-cut is a traditional mural painting technique practiced by Oraon tribal women in Jharkhand. It uses a black manganese-rich clay base and white kaolin clay overlay. Patterns are formed by scraping designs with broken combs to reveal black motifs on a white surface. This sgraffito method features animals, plants, and fertility symbols. It is used in Sohrai harvest and Khovar wedding paintings. The technique is passed down through generations and related to ancient cave art among Oraons and other tribes in Jharkhand.
