Jharkhand ranks third in copper production in India, contributing about 11%. Madhya Pradesh leads with approximately 60% from Malanjkhand mines. Rajasthan holds the second position with around 28-39% from Khetri and Kolihan mines. Jharkhand's Surda Mine produced 1.54 thousand tonnes in 2023. The Indian Copper Complex in Jharkhand plans expansions to 0.9 million tons ore capacity. Jharkhand holds around 19% of India's copper reserves, mainly in Singhbhum district.
