Notes: Ozone layer absorbs harmful ultraviolet rays. Some 20-30 km above the earth’s surface is a mist of ozone gas. This is the 24 km thick ozone layer. Situated in stratosphere this layer shields the earth from the harmful ultraviolet radiation of the Sun. Ozone absorbs ultraviolet radiation with wavelength between 2400 and 3200 angstroms.
