Zygote and Triploid Endosperm
In the process of double fertilization, two sperms are involved. One fertilizes the egg to form a diploid zygote, while the other combines with two polar nuclei to form a triploid endosperm. The endosperm provides nutrients during seed development. This phenomenon is unique to angiosperms, a group of flowering plants.
