Notes: Vasco Da Gama, the Portuguese explorer remembered for his voyage to India, passed away in Kochi, India, in the year 1524 due to Malaria. He was initially buried at the St. Francis Church in Kochi, making it the oldest European grave in India. However, his remains were eventually returned to Portugal in the year 1539 where they reside today.
