Shah Jahan's reign marked the peak of fort-building. The Red Fort in Delhi, completed in 1648, includes the Rang Mahal, Diwan-i-Am, and Diwan-i-Khas. Originally named "Qila-e-Mubarak," it was designed by Ustad Ahmad Lahori, who also designed the Taj Mahal. Its walls were initially white limestone, later painted red by the British. The Kohinoor diamond was part of the Peacock Throne in the fort.
