Firoz Shah Tughlaq
Jaunpur was founded by Sultan Firoz Shah Tughlaq in 1359 AD. He named the city in memory of his cousin and predecessor Muhammad bin Tughlaq, who was also known as Juna Khan. Jaunpur later developed into a significant center for culture and architecture, especially under the Sharqi dynasty, and contributed greatly to medieval North Indian history.
